Chennai: Tamilnadu lost openers L Suryapprakash and skipper Abhinav Mukund to be 53 for 2 at lunch on the second day of the important Ranji Trophy Group ‘A’ match at Nagpur today after the bowlers had helped restrict Punjab to 284.
Resuming at the overnight score of 241 for 6, Sandeep Sharma departed with the addition of just one run as he was castled by Aswin Crist.
Manpreet Singh Grewal and Siddharth Kaul put on 22 runs before the former fell to R Aushik Srinivas for 16. However, Aswin Crist, who finished with three wickets and K Vignesh (4 for 104) wrapped up the innings quickly by removing the other batsmen.
Opener Manan Vohra top-scored for Punjab with a knock of 73 off 111 balls, while the experienced Uday Kaul contributed 56 off 162 balls. Vohra struck 12 boundaries, while Kaul found the fence five times.
In reply, Tamilnadu began cautiously before opener L Suryapprakash, who replaced the struggling M S Washington Sundar, fell for 11.
Captain Abhinav Mukund looked assured in his knock of 23 off 36 balls, but fell a little before lunch to the bowling of the crafty Sandeep Sharma.
