Bangladesh: Border Guards Bangladesh and illegal settlers attack on tribals to grab lands

Illegal plain settlers belonging to the Muslim majority and the Border Guard Bangladesh personnel yesterday attacked Hachowk Para village of indigenous Jumma peoples in Ramgarh under the Khagrachari district in the Chittagong of Bangladesh. According to sources, Md. Zahid, Second-in-Command of 43rd BGB Battalion in Ramgarh led the attack. The attack was launched at around 8 am in the morning yesterday and they stay there till 5 pm. About 40 BGB personnel and 100 illegal plain settlers from Kaladheba Lamku participated in the attack on Hachowk Para village. বান্দরবান পৌর এলাকার বালাঘাটার ভরাখালী এলাকায় নাছিমা আক্তার নামে এক গৃহবধূকে হত্যার অভিযোগ পাওয়া গেছে। এ ঘটনায় আপন বোন সুমি আক্তারকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ। তাদের উভয়ের স্বামী আনোয়ার হোসেন বলে জানা গেছে। স্থানীয়দের অভিযোগে জানা যায়, শুক্রবার রাতে স্বামী আনোয়ার হোসেন তার বড় স্ত্রী নাছিমা আক্তারকে লাঠি দিয়ে বেধড়ক পেটায়। একপর্যায়ে সে জ্ঞান হারালে তাকে গলা চেপে ধরে হত্যা করা হয়। পরে আত্মহত্যা করেছে বলে স্থানীয়দের বুঝাতে তার মুখে কীটনাশক ঢেলে দিয়ে হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যায়। এ সময় চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করলে মরদেহ হাসপাতালে রেখেই স্বামী পালিয়ে যায় আনোয়ার হোসেন । স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা গেছে, এক বছর আগে আনোয়ার হোসেন তার স্ত্রী নাছিমা আক্তারের আপন ছোট বোন সুমিকে (১৭) বিয়ে করেন। ভরাখালী এলাকায় দুইটি ঘর তুলে আলাদাভাবে দুই স্ত্রীকে রেখেছেন। এ নিয়ে পরিবারে প্রায় ঝগড়া বিবাদ হতো। কয়েকবার এলাকায় সালিশ হলেও তার সমাধান না হওয়ার কারণে এটি হত্যাকাণ্ড বলে জানান স্থানীয়রা। নিহতের আরেক বোন শাহিনা আক্তার বলেন, বোন বিষ পানে মারা গেছে বলে আমাকে ফোন করে তার স্বামী জানিয়েছে। পরে স্থানীয়রা জানায় স্বামী নিজেই তাকে ...
